Being a decorative finisher/painter has helped in orchestrating my path to canvas art. When I moved to Charleston back in 2008 business was slow to nonexistent. I not only craved a creative outlet, but needed to subsidize my income while working two jobs. That is what started my canvas art back in 2010. The beach was healing, and I found it to be a refuge that spoke a language I could hear during a very scary and confusing time; even the aroma had a beauty that called to me- so as I created, I naturally worked with coastal colors, in the palette of sunrises and ocean blues. As I painted, each work developed their own personality. I found the adventure fascinating!
Today, as I create, I am still fascinated, however, the adventure is more familiar. Often I know where I am going, but, with each piece there is still unchartered waters. I would say, a signature in my work is the reflective, and blending quality. Gold silver, and or copper metal leaf play a big part in the composition.
I love the look of broken leaf-
to me it’s like reflective nature,
organic and perfect that seams the color,
lines and splashes of my creations together.
It truly is a blessing to take such a vast journey, inch by inch, color by color, mood by mood in a world of what I like to call my– -art of gold.
