Music Academy of NC is Hosting a Summer Children's Concert Series
Beginning June 18, the Music Academy of North Carolina is hosting a free summer children’s concert series for children in pre-K and elementary school.
All four performances will take place at The Music Academy of North Carolina, in our performance hall. Bring a blanket, wear some pajamas, and enjoy the music!
Concert Schedule
Moody Music – June 18th at 10am
Kick off the series by learning how music can affect your mood. In this short 35-minute program, you will hear four of our faculty members perform music that makes you happy, sad, scared, and more!
Up, Up, and Away – June 25th at 10am
Let’s explore the world through music! You will hear our faculty perform music from countries such as Japan, Spain, India, and USA, just to name a few! This performance will also have opportunities for the children to participate in led Musikgarten songs
Fiddle Fun – July 9th at 10am
Do you want to know more about the string family of instruments? Then this performance is for you! Our very own MANC faculty string quartet will perform and talk about all the wonderful sounds string instruments can make. All children in attendance will even get to try holding an instrument at the end!
The Snowman – July 16th at 10am
Come celebrate Christmas in July with us at The Music Academy! This will be a live performance with vocalist narration of the beloved children’s book, The Snowman by Raymond Briggs.
About MANC
The mission of The Music Academy of North Carolina is to enable students of all ages, interests, abilities, and backgrounds to discover, develop, realize, and express their inherent talent. The Music Academy was founded in 1982 by Dr. Ivan Battle in response to the need for a community music school that offered exceptional music education in a structured, well-paced course of study. Starting out with just three teachers and 20 students, today MANC has 35 instructors and about 800 students from the Piedmont and surrounding areas.
In order to both reflect and serve the community and the state, The Music Academy offers a comprehensive, culturally diverse curriculum including classical study, jazz, folk/bluegrass, rock/pop, musical theater, and early childhood music. The positive response to this more diverse offering has resulted in increased diversity among teachers, students, and volunteers who more truly represent the rich mix of cultures of the Piedmont.
